Import and create Prepared User accounts

Prepared Users is a solution to the problem of wanting new users to be partially known to the system before the final user account is created. This can reduce the amount of information that the new user needs to enter.

The data to import normally comes from another user account management system.

Prerequisites for the actor

  • Access to Management UI context on Trivore Identity Service.

  • Access to the Accounts view.

  • Access to the user's namespace.

  • Permission to create new accounts.

Actions

To create Prepared Users, they need to be imported from a file.

Open the User Accounts view, select Actions and select "Import data for future users."

Select or unselect "Duplication protection" if you are importing a large number (10000+) of accounts.

Load a sample file in one of the supported formats. Modify it by adding information about the future users. Email address is always required.

Upload your file. You will see the import progress. Once finished, you will see a count of created Prepared Users.

Prepared User data is used in some locations when a new user is created. For example, the Password Reset function will create a new account if no existing matching account is found and one of the prepared users matches the given email address. The OpenID Authentication registration page will use it if the email address matches.
